Smart Habit Saturday – Routines

Once again I am finding myself needing to work on my routines. I have been very slack with my routines lately and have just been doing the bare minimum when I need to. So my habit for this week and probably the coming weeks too, will be to work on establishing my routines.
It’s pretty obvious that my current routines are not working for me so I will spend today going over them and tweaking them a little to see if that will make a difference

More routines! They are important. If only our lives didn’t change faster than we can keep up!
It has taken me 5 years to finally do a chore routine that works for me. It took long enough but it sure has been worth it.
I’m working on my sleeping routine at the moment (while I’m still in hospital). If the sleep comes together just about everything else follows!
I’m trying to get back into my routine as well. Good luck this week!
Good luck with finding the routine that works for you. I’m constantly having to tweak mine.
Good luck! I’m always trying to get back into mine, since it seems something always comes up that knocks me out of it! I hope it works for you!
I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I need help in the routine department too! In fact, sometimes the only thing that seems routine, is that we are always trying new routines.
Good Luck!!
i love routines. they are fabulous when they work but drive me to tears when they don’t. good for you for being able to realize that they need a bit of a tweak. hope you figure out one that works. good luck! have a great week
I find I need to redefine my routine every season – as things change – especially in winter when its hard to get up real early or in summer where it is easy to be up at 5am …
It sound funny but I start planning my routine backwards – i look at when I want my children in bed, then when I need them to complete other things like chores, teeth brushed and reading time and when I want the dinner dishes cleaned up and so I find out when dinner should be cooked by, then I find when i should have dinner on the stove by, then I realise to have the energy to fulfil it all without cracking – so I decide when we come home from school and work – everyone can have downtime -which means I should jump in the shower to have a few minutes to myself caring for myself. Mondays we have all decided to finish the whole weeks worth of homework so I do not allow the TV on mondays and I do not expect them to do major chores on mondays – then tues- fri we have time to get out in the community and exercise, and do some chores – I expect 10 -15 minutes help from each child each day – tues – sat, and I have a list attahced to the fridge of jobs that could take 10 -15 minutes – I have discussed this with my children – they are happy to help cause they do not see it as a lot of work – by 45 minutes of extra help makes a big difference to my home. They also have a short list attached to the wall near their lightswitches in their rooms that states all jobs they need to do before we leave for school, they are – bed made, window open, loose items in room put away(over summer we decluttered and made sure every thing had a home in their rooms) and dirty washing in the laundry so 10 minutes before leaving i ask – is your list completed? they go and complete it – works for me so far but I am sure it will need re defining in a few months.. keep on going with the hard work! Its worth it for some sanity
