Frugal Mum – Rein in the Finances

After all the spending over the Christmas season it is time to start pulling back and rein in those finances. My aim is to cut our spending by $100 a week and build up our savings account.
Below are a few things that should help me achieve my goal:
- Plan our weekly menu
- Include budget meals in the menu plan
- Buy cheap bread in bulk and freeze it
- Only buy take away once a week (we have designated Saturday night as our take away night)
- Bake cookies and cakes instead of buying them
- Make yoghurt
- Stop buying snack foods
- Stop the almost daily trips to the supermarket
- Only buy petrol on the cheap day
- Turn off power points at night
- Don’t use the air con unless absolutely necessary
- Limit showers to save water
- Use eftpos instead of withdrawing cash from the atm
I’ll be back next Wednesday to let you know how I went
