30 Day Weight Loss Challenge

Domestic Diva 30-Day Challenge

I just read about this challenge on Tina’s Blog. The Domestic Diva is holding a 30 day weight loss challenge. I wrote a little while back about my weight loss roller coaster ride and I think that this challenge may just be the thing that pushes me to get started.

So anyway today is day 1 (actually technically yesterday was day 1 but because of the time difference I will be starting today – Thursday and weighing in each Thursday)

My Starting weight is 73kg (160lbs)

My Goal weight for this challenge is 68kg (149lbs)

The Weight Loss Rollercoaster

roller coaster weight loss

I have been on the weight loss roller coaster for years. At different times I have watched what I put in my body, I have exercised and I have lost weight. Then I get lazy and the weight creeps on again until I can’t stand it anymore and then I diet all over again. The problem is I am not a very good dieter. I lack will power and the discipline needed to lose weight and keep it off.
In the past I have eaten good food, drunk lots of water, cut out soft drinks and snacks and exercised but after a short time I have burnt out and given up. I have done this over and over and over again!
When I look in the mirror I can’t stand the way I look and more importantly I hate the way I feel. I don’t feel healthy and that scares me. After all I have 5 babies and a husband that need me. I can’t afford to get sick or worse.
I have come to the realisation that my roller coaster dieting habits are not working for me (It took me a while but I finally got there!). So I have decided to take things slowly and to get myself healthy and in shape over time.
My first step is to cut out drinking Coke Zero. I could easily drink 2 litres a day and that is scary!
Yesterday was my first Coke Free day in a long time and apart from the headache (which was fixed with Panadol) it was relatively easy!. Again this morning I was a little headachey but apart from that I really haven’t missed the coke.
I’m going to let myself have a few weeks to totally get the coke out of my system as well as up my water intake before moving onto the next goal. Wish me luck!
If there is anyone else trying to lose weight and lacking the motivation needed, let me know and we can try to keep each other on track :)

Weekly Weigh In

weight lose

Here I am back again after a few weeks break. Concentrating on my weight has not been high on my priority list lately, to tell you the truth the thought of striping everything that I love from my diet and only eating foods that won’t add anymore bulges to my already bulging body does not fill me with joy. It actually depresses me which is why I don’t ever stick to a diet.

Lately I have been feeling really tired and flat. It is caused by a few different things, my baby is teething so has been waking a lot at night, I’m not going to bed early enough, I haven’t been eating well and I haven’t been drinking enough water. See I know what is causing me to feel horrible and I know what I need to do to feel better but it’s just a matter of doing them.

I have decided that instead of putting myself on a diet I am going to think of it in a whole new way.

I am not dieting I am taking care of myself.
I am not trying to loose weight I am making myself healthy.

I am not going to deprive myself of things like coke and chocolate I am just going to limit them. And I am going to boost up my intake of water, fruits and vegetables.

I will weigh myself but only on Wednesdays just so I can see if what I am doing is making a difference and for some much needed validation, so I’ll post again next Wednesday to tell you how I have been going :)

My starting weight (which is todays weight) is: 71kg

Weigh In Wednesday

Starting weight: 73kg
Todays weight: 71kg (down 0.5kg from last week)

I have discovered that when it comes to coke I have no will power. If it’s not in the house, I need it, I get cranky and irritable and when we do have some in the house I drink heaps of it. I will go to the fridge and pour out a glass without even thinking about it. So that is something that I am really going to have to work on.

Weigh In Wednesday

Starting weight: 73kg

Todays weight: 71.5kg

I started the week feeling really good, I was going to eat right. No Junk food, No takeaway, No Coke Zero. And on Monday I did really well, I only drank water, I didn’t snack and I had a healthy lunch and dinner but by the time the kids went to bed I was craving Coke and chocolate. I have realised that at night when the kids have gone to bed is when I do alot of snacking, so this is what I am going to work on this week. I am going to try not to eat after dinner, and only eat fruit if I really need something plus I am going to not eat anything after 9pm.

I need to do this slowly……. babysteps babysteps babysteps!

Weigh In Wednesday – 30th January

Starting weight: 73kg
Todays weight: 70.5kg
My Christmas celebrating lasted a little longer than I had intended but I am back on track and ready to go :)
As of this morning I am no longer drinking soft drink, not even coke zero, there is no more in the house and I don’t intend to buy anymore.
We don’t have any junk food in the house and lots of fruit and vegetables and I am going to make myself exercise more, so that’s the plan for this week.

Weigh In Wednesday – 12th December

Weigh in Wednesday

Starting weight: 73kg
Todays weight: 70kg
My goal to loose 6kg in 6 weeks is not going as well as I had hoped. I am still losing weight, but very slowly and not at the rate I was hoping. My problem is that I lack motivation and I can think up a thousand excuses when it comes to exercise or rather lack of it and why it is ok to eat the last 3 chocolate biscuits.
This week I am going to try and drink more water and I am also going to try and eat smaller healthier meals more often to try and boost my metabolism and get more exercise.

Weigh In Wednesday – 28th November

Starting weight: 73kg
Todays weight: 71.5kg
My goal to loose 6kg in 6 weeks is going quite well. I haven’t been completely good, but I have been trying to fit some exercise in as well as drinking more water, eating an apple a day and drinking a glass of V8 juice each day.

Weigh In Wednesday

Starting weight: 73kg
Todays weight: 72.5kg

Last week I mentioned how I had set myself a challenge. To loose 7kg in 7 weeks. That will get me to my first goal by Christmas Day :)

I am happy to say that I have lost some weight this week, only 500g, not the 1kg I was hoping for but none the less it’s still a lose. It just means that I need to be a little better this week.

What I’m doing this week to achieve my goal:

  • Regular exercise
  • Drinking more water/less coke zero
  • Limiting snacks &
  • Heathier meals
