Works For Me Wednesday – Baby Change Table

works for me wednesday

Instead of using a change table to change my babies nappy I use a change mat which I put in her cot. That way if I have to leave her mid nappy change to grab the wipes that I left in the lounge room or if one of the other kids needs me in a hurry, I can leave her without worrying that she is going to fall off a change table.

Not only is it convenient but it’s cheap too, the change mat cost me around $30 compared to a change table which are around the $100 mark for a cheap one.

So that’s what works for me. Obviously this will only work while the cot’s base is up high, you couldn’t do this when you cot base is down low otherwise you’d break you back… hehehe :)

Tackle It Tuesday – Mop The Floor

My girls have finally gone back to school today after 2 weeks of school holidays so I am excited about getting this house back in order. The main job for today is to clean the floors, I need to vacuum the carpet and mop all the floors.

What are you tackling today? Leave me a comment and I’ll come by and visit your blog :)

Frugal Friday – Seedling Starter

toilet roll seed startersImage Source: You Grow Girl

Use the cardboard core from a toilet paper roll to start seedlings. Fold in all the way around one end and fill it with good soil. Put one seed per “pot,” starting a few weeks before you want to plant them out in the garden. When the weather is right, simply plant the cardboard tube straight into the ground. The cardboard disintegrates over time and you reduce damage to the delicate roots.

As I was searching the net for a picture to use I found You Grow Girl‘s Post on toilet roll seed starters. It explains in more detail how to make the pots and has some great pictures.

Wordless Wednesday – My Baby Girl

Hallie is running a Photography 101 course over at her blog From The Rubber Room.

Assignment 1 was to read the manual and then take the best photo you can.

I read my manual (although it is still all gobbily goop to me!) and then I took a heap of photos of the kids playing in the backyard and this is the best of the bunch. It’s not a magnificent photo but then if I could take magnificent photos I wouldn’t need Photography 101 would I???

Works For Me Wednesday – Cold Water Bottles

freezing water bottles
This is a pretty simple thing but it works for me so I thought I’d share it with you.

To keep kids drinks cold in their drink bottles half fill the drink bottle with water or your drink of choice. Pop it in the freezer overnight, in the morning top the bottle up with more drink and the drink bottle should stay cold for most of the day.
