Christmas came and went in a blur of wrapping paper and tinsel and now we are enjoying the school holidays. We have been spending a lot of time at the local pools where the kids have had 2 weeks of swimming lessons. Their lessons go for 45 minutes and then we stay and have a swim together. The kids have been having a great time and they are doing so well with their lessons.
We have also been getting everything ready for the beginning of the school year. New uniforms, shoes, bags, pencils, books etc. It’s an expensive and exhausting exercise but lots of fun. I love the back to school preparation.
Riley is starting Preschool again on Friday. He started last June after he turned 3 but he wasn’t ready for it and I didn’t want to push him. I’m hoping that this time it will be different and he’ll settle in easily. I’m expecting some tears when I leave him, but fingers crossed they won’t last for long.
I’ve been concentrating on spending time with the kids during the holidays so I’ve let most of the memes that I usually participate in slip, but when the kids go back to school at the end of January I will be back in full force
See you then!

I am really happy to say that the potty party was a huge success. Riley is now using the potty on his own without any reminding and so far we haven’t had any accidents in the last 4 days.
He loved getting his lolly and his sticker and his balloon each time he went on the potty. I have to say it really has been exhausting and sometimes down right annoying making such a huge fuss but it has been worth it

Day 3 has been pretty much the same as day 1 and 2, some successes and some accidents. I’m starting to think that this is going to take a little longer than the week I allocated… hehehehee! Oh well we’ll hang in there

This week we have declared it Potty Party Week!
Riley is now 3 years and 5 months old and still not potty trained. He is by far my slowest to get out of nappies so I thought that it was about time that we worked on it (again!)
I printed Dora The Explorer’s Potty Training Chart and Stickers and have hung it on the fridge.
I printed the colouring picture of Blue using the potty and Blue’s Toilet Song.
Today is day 1 and here is how we are tackling potty training today:
We went to the shop and bought a bag of mixed lollies, we put them in a container and the rule is that when he sits on the potty he gets 1 lolly and if he does a wee on the potty he gets 2 lollies.
He also gets to put a sticker on his Dora chart when he does a wee.
We are currently watching the Bear In The Big Blue House – Potty Time With Bear DVD.
We have set the timer for 20 minutes and when the timer goes off Riley goes and sits on the potty. It is quite exhausting to be thinking about potty training constantly but it needs to be done and it will be worth it in the long run

I can’t believe that 6 months ago I was in the labour room giving birth to my precious little princess. I remember it like it was yesterday (I’m not sure if that is a good or bad thing
Sophie has changed so much in the last coupe of weeks let alone the last 6 months. She as of 2 days ago is rolling all over the floor (again I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing
She is so smiley and so cheeky and loves nothing more than to be played with and cuddled and loved by everyone.
Happy Half Birthday Baby Girl!!!

We are just about to try potty training again. I am going to try the rewards approach. I have bought a large packet of lollies and will give him one each time he sits on the potty and two if he actually does something in the potty!.
I also found this cool Dora Potty Training Chart and stickers, so I’m going to print them up for Riley too.

So far it has only been Caitie and Riley that have gotten the dreaded bug. Clare, Chloe, Sophie, Rob and I seem to have gotten away with out getting it, thank goodness.
We managed to get to the library and even a trip to the toy shop. I don’t know about you but my kids are the king and queens of “Can I?” “Can I have this game?” “Can I have these beads” “Can I have this tiara?” “Of course your majesty, I will just go and pick money from the royal money tree and I’ll purchase that for you!” hehehehehe!
I have found away to get out of a toy store without having to buy anything though, my kids love making birthday and Christmas lists. So when they tell me they want something (which is evry ten seconds in a toy store) I tell them to write it on their Christmas list and for some reason this keeps them happy
