Tackle It Tuesday – Kids Winter Clothes

Today I tackled the kids winter clothes. We store all our out of season clothes in huge plastic boxes in the garage. It is actually ridiculous how many clothes my children have so today I grabbed some garbage bags and sorted out what I wanted to keep and what I would give away. I was quite surprised when I had finished to find that I had filled up 3 big garden type garbage bags. I actually counted 7 pairs of size 8 jeans…….. who needs 7 pairs of jeans I ask you?. Certainly not any of my daughters. So I kept only the stuff that I knew my kids would wear. For the moment I have put all the clothes that I am keeping into a plastic box and my next job will be to sort it into sizes. Last winter I made a spread sheet of the types of clothes and how many of each item my children would need. I mark off what I have for each child and then I know what I need to buy. It saves me a lot of money and limiting the amount of clothes helps to eliminate the clothing clutter in the bedrooms.

Thanks to Susan and Janice for hosting Tackle It Tuesday at 5 Minutes for Mom , your motivation to get things done around the house is very much appreciated :) Go and check out more Tackle It Tuesday participants.

My 10 year old daughter has been invited to a 80′s party. She asked me what kinds of clothes they wore in the 80′s, so I did a google search and found a number of things that I remembered that made me laugh. So I thought today I would take you on a little journey back to the 80′s!!!!

80s
My favourite album in the early 80s

80s
I had one of these Fluppy Dogs

80s
Madonna was the coolest

80s
I had a pair of these but I think mine were white with coloured splatters.

Do you remember jelly bracelets?

My favourite band in the late 80s

80s
Leg warmers were actually worn when you weren’t exercising.

And speaking of exercising, who remembers this?
80s
“Don’t forget to breath” ahahahahahahahahaa!

80s
Bubble skirts were the best.

And don’t forget the hyper colour tshirts.

Don’t forget that tomorrow night between 8 and 9pm is Earth Hour. So turn off those lights, we can all make a differnece. And by the way, did you know that Earth Hour 2007 was a Sydney event but Earth Hour 2008 is a global movement….. how exciting!!! Our household participated last year and will be doing it again this year.

This is from the Earth Hour website:

About Earth Hour

On March 31 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world.

In 2008, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.

Tell Me Thursday – Look Who’s Walkin’

babys first stepsAs you can probably tell my baby girl has taken her first steps. I’ve been waiting for months for her to take these first few little steps. She has been cruising around the furniture for months and balancing on her own for probably about a month now. I kept saying she’ll be walking before she turns one and she has scraped in with a few weeks to spare.

I love how excited she gets when she takes those few little steps, her whole face lights up and she makes this funny squealy noise!. She also tries to clap her hands but that puts her off balance and she usually falls down. But she usually gets back up with a smile and a giggle!.
