This photo was taken in February 2004. It’s a picture of my eldest three girls, Chloe (the eldest) was only five years old and was in Year 1 at school. Clare was three years old and Caitie would have been almost two years old.
It was taken while I was pregnant with Riley and before Sophie was even thought about and it was before I knew anything about blogging and podcasting. Wow that seems like such a long time ago, I don’t remember life before blogging!.
The photo was taken because I was trying to get some nice shots to give to my Mum and my Mother in Law for Mothers Day. I remember it being lots of fun, all the girls were being very cooperative and enjoyed posing for a million photos and it was very easy to get them all looking at the camera at the same time. Unlike these days when I have 5 children and in every shot I have one of them looking in a different direction…..lol!

This meme is a very timely one for me because I have been thinking a lot lately about how I can make our home more homely and cosy for my family.
Last week I worked on my bathroom and this week I decided the kitchen needed my attention more than any other room in the house. I did a little research and discovered some very interesting Feng Shui tips for the kitchen and decided to start today by uncluttering one of my kitchen drawers (I didn’t have much time to declutter after spending so much time researching… hehehe). Imagine my surprise when I checked out the Home a Haven meme tonight to discover that we had to clean out a drawer!. I must have known something
So here are my before and after photos:

Not all that impressive I know, but hey, it’s a start! And by the end of the week I’m going to have a gorgeous clean, decluttered haven of a kitchen!

I’ve come to realise that if you want prosperity and abundance in your life you need to start in the kitchen.
For many people the kitchen is the hub of the home and if you would like to attract prosperity and abundance to your life there are a few things you can do in your kitchen.
- Keep your kitchen clutter free. Keep your benches clear and free from clutter. Declutter your drawers and cupboards of all the things that you no longer use.
- Keep your pantry full of food.
- Rotate the stove burners that you use. Don’t use the same burner all the time as this makes the energy stagnant and you want the energy to continue to flow around your kitchen.
- Fill your kitchen with nice smells. Burn oils or wax melts, bake cakes or cookies or have a bowl of fragrant pot pourri.
- Have bowls of fresh fruit and vegetables. Keep your fruit bowls well stocked.
- Use wooden bowls and wooden spoons as much as possible.

Last week for Tackle It Tuesday I cleaned my vanity (check out the photos!). I took everything off the top and put it in the cupboard (all in an organised fashion, of course!). So now all I have on top of my vanity is a beautiful freshia scented candle. I have been working hard to keep it looking like that every day and so far I have been pretty good at putting everything back in to the cupboard, but I am going to keep working on it this week. I love the look of the bathroom without all the clutter around the sink, so I am going to work on making this a habit!
