Tackle It Tuesday – Hot Spot Clean Off

tackle it tuesday

It seems to be a never ending tackle this one, and no I’m not talking about the laundry (although that is never ending too). I’m talking about the ever growing pile of “stuff” on top of my fridge. It is one huge junk magnet, so today I am going to clean it off and put everything in it’s right home.

Thanks to Susan and Janice for hosting Tackle It Tuesday at 5 Minutes for Mom , your motivation to get things done around the house is very much appreciated :) Go and check out more Tackle It Tuesday participants.

What’s Going on Around Here!

Christmas came and went in a blur of wrapping paper and tinsel and now we are enjoying the school holidays. We have been spending a lot of time at the local pools where the kids have had 2 weeks of swimming lessons. Their lessons go for 45 minutes and then we stay and have a swim together. The kids have been having a great time and they are doing so well with their lessons.

We have also been getting everything ready for the beginning of the school year. New uniforms, shoes, bags, pencils, books etc. It’s an expensive and exhausting exercise but lots of fun. I love the back to school preparation.

Riley is starting Preschool again on Friday. He started last June after he turned 3 but he wasn’t ready for it and I didn’t want to push him. I’m hoping that this time it will be different and he’ll settle in easily. I’m expecting some tears when I leave him, but fingers crossed they won’t last for long.

I’ve been concentrating on spending time with the kids during the holidays so I’ve let most of the memes that I usually participate in slip, but when the kids go back to school at the end of January I will be back in full force :)

See you then!

Wordless Wednesday – Our Christmas Party

Works for me Wednesday – Spray Disinfectant

I’m pretty sure that I have posted about the spray bottle of diluted disinfectant I leave in my toilet so that I can give the loo a quick spray and wipe, well I have now found another use for it. My son has just been potty trained so I am constantly emptying and cleaning the potty, so I empty the contents of the potty into the toilet, give it a quick spray, splash some water in it and tip it into the toilet. It’s quick and easy and works for me :)

Goal Setting in 2008!

I love the beginning of a new year. Last years slate has been wiped clean and the new year is full of hope and wonderful possibilities.

I am a list maker and planner (something my Dh teases me about constantly) so at this time of the year I like to think about what I would like to achieve during the year. There is nothing better than opening a clean fresh note book and writing down your goals. I do this every year and it’s good to look back over the goals of last year and see what I achieved and what I still need to work on. It has also been interesting to see how my goals changed during the year. For example, one of my goals at the beginning of last year was to work in my vegetable garden more and plan it better, however after having my 5th baby in April, I soon discovered that it was difficult to give the garden the time that it needed and I let it go and it was no longer important to me.

Many of my goals for this year are the same as my goals for last year, looking back on them I can see that I had good intentions but I didn’t really give them the time and effort that they needed for me to achieve them so this year I am going to do something a little different. Each month I am going to focus on one goal, that way I will be able to form some new habits that will help me to achieve my goals.

Here is a list of my goals for 2008:

Money Goals –

  1. Use less energy (save money and the environment)
  2. Save for kids education
  3. Budget better
  4. Reduce debt
  5. Save for a house
  6. Build my eBay business
  7. Enter more competitions
  8. Buy a house
  9. Buy a bigger car

Household Goals –

  1. Follow Flylady’s routines
  2. Help the kids to build routines
  3. Continue to plan meals

Personal Goals –

  1. Continue with Wiccan course
  2. Eat Healthier
  3. Exercise more
  4. Lose weight
  5. More ‘me time’
  6. More quality time for Dh and me
  7. Reconnect with old friends
  8. Continue blogging
  9. Write more

Family Goals –

  1. Establish set homework times for girls
  2. Eat healthier
  3. Eat meals at the dining table
  4. Have a family holiday

My motto for this year is:

Things will be great in 2008!

I normally start to take down the Christmas decorations on New Years Day. So that’s my tackle for today, putting all the Christmas decorations out into the garage ready for next year!
