My Christmas celebrating lasted a little longer than I had intended but I am back on track and ready to go
As of this morning I am no longer drinking soft drink, not even coke zero, there is no more in the house and I don’t intend to buy anymore.
We don’t have any junk food in the house and lots of fruit and vegetables and I am going to make myself exercise more, so that’s the plan for this week.

For a long time I had been hanging my washing directly onto coat hangers once I took them out of the washing machine and hanging them on the clothes line on their hangers. This was quick and easy but in order to do this I needed hanging space in my laundry. So I used one of those portable clothes racks, but I found that they kept on breaking so I was going through them at a rate of 1 every couple of months. After my last one broke (after only having it for 4 weeks) I decided that I had had enough, so I changed the way I dried my families clothes.
I now do my washing during the day and hang it on the line at night (it is summer here in Australia, so it’s much cooler to hang it up and take it off just before it gets dark). As soon as I bring it in I sort it into piles; a pile of underwear and a pile for each member of the family. Now this is where I started to run into some problems, because we have very little drawer space the majority of our clothes are on hangers in our wardrobes, so I then had the task of taking each family members pile of clothes and hanging them in their wardrobes but of course by this time most of my kids are in bed and the baby is asleep in my bedroom, so I wouldn’t put the clothes away and they would pile up. So now I have put a plastic box in the bottom of each wardrobe and this box is for clean clothes only. That way I can get the clothes put away (out of sight at least and in the right wardrobes) and my eldest kids hang their own clothes up the next day and I can do the younger kids clothes when I get around to it. I’ve decided that it doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to get done.

Today I am going to tackle something that I don’t get around to doing very often. I am going to get down and clean all the skirting boards in the house. By clean them I mean just wipe them over to get rid of the dust, it’s not really a mammoth task.
Thanks to Susan and Janice for hosting Tackle It Tuesday at 5 Minutes for Mom , your motivation to get things done around the house is very much appreciated
Go and check out more Tackle It Tuesday participants.

Today is Australia Day!
And I’d like to wish all my fellow Aussies a fun-filled day!
And for all my International friends here is a bit of a history lesson:
The tradition of noticing 26 January began early in the nineteenth century with Sydney almanacs referring to First Landing Day or Foundation Day. That was the day in 1788 Captain Arthur Phillip, commander of the First Fleet of eleven convict ships from Great Britain and the first governor of New South Wales, arrived at Sydney Cove. The raising of the Union Jack there symbolised British occupation of the eastern half of the continent claimed by Captain James Cook on 22 August in 1770.
We arn’t doing anything special to celebtrate, Rob is currently potering around in the garden and I am taking advantage of the peace and quiet (The baby is in bed and the my other 4 are all playing quietly) by trying to get a few bloggy things checked off my to-do list, then I’ll get started on my house to-do list

During January (and I have decided to extend it into February as well) I am focusing on money. Saving money, bringing in more money and making our money work better for us.
So this week I am going to be working on a new habit. In an endeavour to reduce our electricity bill I am going to work on turning off appliances at the power point when they are not in use. After taking a look around our home I was amazed at how many electrical things we have plugged in. So I am going to work at turning everything off after I have finished with it.
