Works For Me Wednesday - Potty Party
We have all been making a big fuss about him, giving him a lolly when he sits on the potty, 2 when he actually does a wee, he has a Dora sticker chart and gets to put a sticker on the chart and we blow up a balloon everytime he does a wee in the potty and hang it on the loungeroom window. We have party food as a snack in the afternoon, on Monday we had corn chips and salsa, Tuesday we had cupcakes and today we will be having coloured popcorn.
So far he is doing fairly well, so I think it will be a success, so that is what works for me this week

Sponsored Post - Garage Floors
In an ideal world I would be able to use my garage to put a car in instead of using it as a storage unit. And in an ideal world I would want to cover up the old dirty concrete floor with something a little fancier, maybe some floor tiles or a clean and a coating of epoxy to make it easier to keep clean. Car Guy Garage has a number of options to spruce up garage floors.

Potty Party Week - Day 2
This morning after we got home from taking the girls to school, we took off Riley’s night nappy and he sat on the potty and did a wee……… yeahhhhhh! He got his two lollies, stuck a sticker on his Dora chart and pumped up another balloon. I don’t think I told you about the balloons yesterday. We decided that a party just isn’t a party without balloons, so every time he does a wee on the potty we blow up a balloon and hang it in the lounge room. The plan is to have a lounge room full of balloons by the end of the week
As part of the party the kids are having party food as an afternoon treat when the girls get home from school. Yesterday they had corn chips and salsa and today I have just made them cupcakes.
Anyway it has been two hours so far and he has done one more wee and hasn’t had any accidents so things are looking pretty bright
I am using our Potty Party as my tackle for today. It is pretty exhausting to be so focused on potty training so I don’t think that I will have the energy to tackle anything else today

Frugal Friday - Frugal Decorations
A really cheap way to add some festive colour to your walls this season is by gift wrapping your wall pictures. Simply take your picture frame down off the wall, wrap it in colourful Christmas wrap (leaving the hanger exposed). Decorate it with ribbon or anything else you like and then hang it back on your wall.
If you want some more great frugal tips go and check out the other Frugal Friday participants.

Thursday Thirteen - 13 Things I Learnt About Thanksgiving
-
Thanksgiving Day is a day set aside each year for giving thanks to God for blessings received during the year. On this day, people give thanks with feasting and prayer.
-
The first Thanksgiving celebration can be traced back to the Plymouth Pilgrims in the fall of 1621.
-
The pilgrims were the first real European settlers to go to North America.
-
They boarded a ship called the Mayflower in 1620. They were setting off to the new land of America for a variety of different reasons. This group included merchants, servants, freemen, and religious separatists. Regardless of why they chose to become colonists, they were all willing to risk everything they had – including their lives – for new opportunities that could not be found in their home countries.
-
The first Thanksgiving meal was nothing like the meals of today. It was more like a giant cook out.
-
The Pilgrims celebrated Thanksgiving that first year after they arrived at Plymouth as they had suffered through much hardship. They had run out of food and the crops they had planted failed to grow. With the help of Native Americans led by Chief Massasoit, they survived to once again have an abundant harvest and rebuild their lives and carve a niche for themselves, and those who later followed, in the New World.
-
One of the things that enabled the Pilgrims to survive was their friendship with Chief Massasoit and his tribe. They showed the Pilgrims about native food and crop cultivation so that their farming would be abundant. The Pilgrims, in turn, showed their appreciation for the friendship of Chief Massasoit and his tribe by inviting them to celebrate their harvest and bounty after all of their sufferings.
-
The president to proclaim the first ‘National Day of Thanksgiving’ in 1789 was George Washington.
-
Abraham Lincoln announced Thanksgiving to be national holiday in his proclamation on October 3, 1863.
-
There are also Thanksgiving holidays celebrated every year in Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Laos, Liberia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Grenada, and the Virgin Islands.
-
Americans feast on 535 million pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving.
-
There was no milk, cheese, bread, butter or pumpkin pie at the original Thanksgiving Day feast.
-
Contrary to popular belief, the Pilgrims did not have big buckles on their clothing, shoes, or hats.
