Frugal Friday - Spray Detergent

Published by admin under Frugal Mummy

Frugal Friday ButtonI found this tip a few months ago and thought it was a good one.

Squirt a little washing up liquid into a spray bottle then fill with water. Keep the bottle near your kitchen sink and use it when you are washing up a pan or a dish, you use way less detergent than squirting it directly from it’s bottle.

Sponsored Post - Drug Rehab

Published by admin under Sponsored Post

Stone Hawk is the most successful drug addiction treatment program in the United States of America. Amazingly it has a history of having an over 76% success rate. That means that more than 3 out of 4 of Stone Hawks program graduates leave clean, and stay clean. This is a much better success rate than the traditional 12 step programs and other alternative methods of drug rehab.

The Stone Hawk program is an alternative to the traditional 12 step programs and it follows the principles of the Narconon program which was founded by William Benitez and inspired by L. Ron Hubbard.

Mums Mailbox - Podcasts

Published by admin under Mums Mailbox, Podcasts

I get a lot of emails from the lovely readers of my blog so I thought I might start answering some of them here for everyone to read. And please, please keep sending me those emails I love to hear from you all :)

Overwhelmed recently asked me about podcasts, in particular were they free and where to get them from. So for Overwhelmed and anybody else unfamiliar with podcasts, here you go:

What is a Podcast?

A podcast is simply an audio recording which is able to be downloaded to your computer, ipod or mp3 player. There are many different types of podcasts ranging from professional podcasts that sound very similar to talk radio shows (and many are just that) to the not so professional home podcaster.

Are Podcasts Free?

Yes podcasts are free. How cool is that!!

Where Do You Get Podcasts?

There are many directories on the net now that allow you to search for and download podcasts. But if you have an iPod my advice would be to use iTunes as I think it is the easiest way to download podcasts. Once you are in the iTunes Store click on Podcasts in the left hand menu, this will take you to the podcasts page where you can browse thousands of different podcasts. If you are not an iTunes user then here are some Podcast directories to check out:

Yahoo Podcasts
Podcast Pickle
Podcast Alley

My Favourite Podcasts

Some of my favourite podcasts are:

Manic Mommies
Mom’s Money Podcast and
Organizing Without Agonizing

All of these can be found in the iTunes directory and in most other directories. While you are there check out my podcast A Comfy Cosy Clean House Podcast, you can also download all the episodes from here.

You can also download all the episodes of my A Juggling Mum Podcast from here.

If you’re a podcast listener leave me a comment telling me your favourite podcasts or if you are a podcast producer tell us a bit about your podcast and where we can find it :)

Mums Mumblings - Selling On Ebay

Published by admin under Money Making

Mums MumblingsI’ve been buying and selling on ebay for about 4 and a half years now. I started off selling scrapbooking items and now I’ve moved onto DVDs.
If you choose the right items you can make a very nice profit from eBay selling.

If your new to ebay selling I would suggest looking around your house for the things that you’d like to get rid of and sell them. Remember make sure they are in working order and good condition otherwise you’ll be wasting your time and money.

By selling your unwanted items, you’ll get a feel for the auction process as well as a feedback score, not to mention a few dollars in your pocket.

Because there is a limited number of items in your home that you want to get rid of this will only last you a little while and then you’ll need to buy items to sell. There are a number of things you should think about before you rush off and buy some stock.

The cost – how much will the item cost you including any postage costs.

Storage - Do you have room to adequately and safely store the item while you are waiting for it to sell?

Postage costs – how much will these items cost to ship.

The season - When you put an item up for sale on eBay, consider the time of year. Jumpers and jeans don’t sell well in the spring and summer.

Where Will You Find What You’ll Sell? – Markets, Garage, Established retailers, or Discount stores

Once you have an idea of the types of products you would like to sell, it’s time to do some research.

Go to the Buy section in ebay (you will find the BUY tab at the top of the page). Scroll down til you find the category where your product fits. Or alternatively type your items name into the ebays search engine. Once you have a list of similar items up on your screen, scroll down and in the index on the left hand side you will find the Completed Listings checkbox. Check that box and scroll down a little further to the Show Items button and click it. Now you have a list of the items that have sold in the past couple of weeks. You can then sort it by the Price: highest first and start browsing. This will give you a good indication of what is hot and what kind of prices items are going for at the moment.

Works For Me Wednesday

Published by admin under Memes

Works For Me Wednesday

Podcasts work for me :) I hate ironing but force myself on a Sunday night to iron all the clothes we are going to need for the following week. Last Sunday I had just downloaded some new episodes of my favourite podcasts, so I plugged my ipod in my ears and started ironing, before I knew it I had finished the ironing, gotten the girls school lunches made and packed all their school bags for them as well as Rileys preschool bag. Then I got to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and listen to the rest of the podcast in peace.

Sponsored Post - Coupon Codes

Published by admin under Sponsored Post

There are not very many American online stores that us Aussies can shop at but one of my favorites is Amazon, especially when I am shopping for books. My partner and I have both purchased many books from Amazon in the past and will continue to purchase books from them in the future. So I was very excited to hear about Coupon Chief who offer online coupons for many different online stores.

A Family Update

Published by admin under Family

Happy Birthday Clare Bear

I’ve just noticed that I haven’t been writing about the family much lately. I’ve been spending the time that I do have online posting my daily memes. So here is a little update for you :)

It’s Clare’s 7th birthday today (Happy Birthday Clare Bear!). We had lunch with my family on Sunday to celebrate her birthday and all got dressed up in our PJs. It was lots of fun and lovely to be able to spend the day in our jammies :)

Clare gets to choose what we have for dinner tonight, so it will more than likely be McDonalds and I have an ice cream cake in the freezer for dessert.

Riley has started preschool. He goes once a week (on a Monday). He has been twice now and both times he has been teary. He seems to like preschool but just misses his mum (which is sweet).

I went up to the school yesterday afternoon for Caitlin and Clare’s Parent Teacher Interviews and both are doing really well. There was nothing of concern to report, Clare just needs to write slower and neater and Caitie needs to stop getting upset when she can’t do something. I was told that they are both very bright and Caitie is extremely good at Maths. I have Chloe’s interview tomorrow afternoon.

Speaking of Chloe, she has been doing lots of different things at school lately. She joined the debating team and had her first debate against another school last week. Her team didn’t win but Chloe still really enjoyed it. She has gone off to another school today to compete in a public speaking competition against kids from other schools. Five kids from our school where chosen to go on to the final and Chloe was one of them. She also received a distinction in a computer test that she sat for at school, so we are very proud of her.

Ok I’m going to stop bragging now :)
