Happy Mothers Day!

Mummy, I love you
For all that you do.
I’ll kiss you and hug you
‘Cause you love me, too.
You feed me and need me
To teach you to play,
So smile ’cause I love you
On this Mother’s Day.

Happy Mothers Day!!!

So far my Mothers Day has been great, I was woken by Sophie at 6.30am wanting milk and cuddles. We snuggled in bed and watched a Gilmore Girl marathon.

Chloe, Clare, Caitlin and Riley came in around 7.30am with presents that they bought for me from the school Mothers Day stall. Chloe gave me a candle and some perfume, Clare gave me some flower shaped candles (my girls know I loooovvveee candles :) and Caitlin gave me some chocolates, which she promptly told me that she bought me so that I could share them with her :) and Rob bought me a gorgeous tulip tree candle holder from Dusk.

Rob made us all pikelets and maple syrup which I ate in bed, while still watching the Gilmore Girls.

We are going over to my Mum and Dads for lunch with the relos soon, so it looks like a great Mothers Day for me. I hope you are all having a lovely Mothers Day too :)

Smart Habit Saturday

After reading Laras article Whose Job is It? . I have decided that I really need to get my kids to do more around the house.
My main reason for not getting them to do anything is because it takes double the time to do anything with kids and it is much quicker to do it myself, however I have seen the error of my ways and realise that it’s important that my kids learn these life skills.
I thought I’d start by working on one skill and practise it for a week. This week we are going to work on how to pack the dishwasher. The kids can unpack the dishwasher but I’ve never showed them how to pack it properly. So that is going to be our SMART habit for this week :)

Review – I Love PayPerPost!!!

I signed up with PayPerPost and wrote my first post on the 17th March 2007 after seeing PayPerPosts word of mouth marketing on someone else’s blog and I haven’t looked back, it’s so easy to earn up to fifteen dollars to write a simple review.

So far I have been paid over sixty dollars with another twenty dollars on the way, I haven’t decided what to do with my money yet so I am just letting it all build up in my account until I have decided what I want to do with it.

I find it very interesting to read what other people are reviewing and writing about on their blogs and visit some of my favourite bloggers over and over again.

Baby Sophie Update!

My princess is 3 weeks old today!

Thank you to everyone for all your lovely comments :)

I’ve had many people asking how Sophie is going, so here is an update just for you!

Sophie is doing really well, basically she eats and sleeps. Although she has started to have a few awake periods during the day which is nice too.

She has been feeding well and putting on weight at a good rate.
She is fitting in to our family well, although this might change next week when Rob has to go back to work and I have to do all the school runs and housework all by myself. I’m pretty sure that it will all go smoothly though :)

Weight Loss Challenge

Today is the first day of the Weight Loss Challenge.

It is being hosted by Tales From The Scales so if you want to join in head on over there :)

For my height (159cm) my healthy weight range is between 51kg and 63kg and I currently weigh 75kg (roughly 165 lbs) so my goal weight is 60kg (roughly 132 lbs).

So that’s about 15kg (roughly 33 lbs) that I’d like to remove from my body :)

To do this I obviously need to watch what I eat. No more snacking on chocolate and biscuits, no more coke and no more greasy, oily takeaway food.

I’d also like to drag the exercise bike out of the garage and dust it off, although finding somewhere to put it is going to take some work. But where there’s a will, there’s a way :)

I’ve got a pilates dvd that I would like to start doing again, but I need to wait until my 6 week post maternity check up before I can do anything like that.

The weather is really nice here at the moment, sunny days but not to hot, so I should take advantage of that and put the kids in the pram and go for a walk each day.

So that’s the plan, now all I need is the motivation to do this and that’s where you and my blog come in. I’m hoping that by blogging about my weight loss achievements or hopefully not lack there of, it’ll give me the motivation that I need to finally do this.

I am hoping that the fact that I’m breastfeeding is going to work in my favour. I usually find it easier to lose weight while breastfeeding, but there is also a disadvantage in that I get ravenous and I’m also generally tired. I’m going to have to have some healthy snacks in the cupboards and fridge that I can just grab when I get hungry to stop myself from wanting the biscuits and chocolate (although hopefully they won’t be in the house in the first place).

Ok, so here goes……… wish me luck :)

Menu Plan Monday

We had a pretty good week last week, we followed the menu plan and tried some new recipes.

I made the Pizza Scrolls and they were delicious. The kids loved them and really liked having something other than a sandwich to take to school with them. The only thing I would do differently is to make a double batch next time :)

The Ice Cream Bucket Lazagna was really easy to make. I only made enough to make 2 lasagnes though, one I cooked in the oven and the other is in the freezer ready to be eaten this week. I did find that it fell apart when I tried to serve it, but it still tasted good. My kids were not all that fused with it, but they did try it and they did eat some of it.

Ok now for this weeks menu:

Monday
Freezer Food – Pizza Scrolls
Dinner – Popcorn Chicken (Posted on Devildogfamily Blog) Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables

Tuesday
Baking – Sara Lee’s Carrot Cake
Dinner – Easy Marinated Chicken, Oriental Rice and Salad

Wednesday
Dinner – Ice Cream Bucket Lazagna (Posted On Lorie’s Stitch in Time Blog) garlic bread & salad

Thursday
Baking – Choc Chip Cookies
Dinner – Crockpot Vegetable Curry

Friday
Freezer Food – Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes (Posted on Journey to Simplicity)

Saturday

30 Day Organisational Challenge

The Challenge has come to an end and now it’s time to showcase all our hard work :)

As I mentioned in my first post, I chose to organise a section of my wardrobe that I wanted to use as our new babies wardrobe.

Here is the before photo:

And here is the after photo:

And now for Lauras questions:

1. What was the hardest part of the challenge for you and were you able to overcome it?

The hardest part for me was finding the energy to get this job done when I was very pregnant, but I just took it slowly and did a little bit at a time.

2. Tell us what kind of changes/habits you have put into place in order for your area/room to maintain its new order?

This is easy because it’s now Sophies wardrobe so I only put her things in there.

3. What did you do with the “stuff” you were able to purge out of your newly organized space?

The drawers were cleaned out, they were full of the girls craft things and most of it was rubbish, what was left was put into smaller drawers in the games cupboard.
The hanging bags were full of clothes and blankets for Sophie, so once the wardrobe was cleaned out those things were put back in there, but this time in an orderly fashion.
And the box of scrapbooks have been put into a waterproof box in the garage.

4. What was the biggest lesson you learned from this experience?

To find a home for everything rather than throw it in a cupboard and forget about it.

5. Now that you have completed the PROCESS, do you think having and keeping your space organized will make a difference in your life?

Absolutely, if I don’t keep this wardrobe organised I will never be able to find any of her clothes and things :)
