Step 1. Pick an area/room
I have chosen my wardrobe to organise. In particular one section of the wardrobe that I want to use as the new babies wardrobe.
This is what it currently looks like!
Step 2. Create an organizational plan
.
1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be?
I want this section of my wardrobe to be the new babies wardrobe.
2. What do I need in or near the area to serve that purpose?
I have a spare set of small drawers and a small shelving unit that can be put inside the wardrobe for storage.
3. What can I remove from the area?
The plastic drawers need to come out and find a new home, as well as the box of scrapbook albums. There are some clothes in there that need to come out, but there is room in the other sections of the wardrobe for them. The bags that are currently hanging uo there are full of baby stuff, so they just need to be unpacked once the wardrobe is cleaned out.
4. What problems do I see with the area?
No problems so far.
5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?
N/A
6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems?
I need to stop using that section of the wardrobe as a dumping ground for things that don’t have a home.
7. What kind of a budget do I have to create the organized room of my dreams?
I really don’t want to spend any money at all, so that’s why I am going to use the spare drawers and shelves.
8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room?
I’m due to have this baby in 3 weeks, so the sooner the better, however I don’t anticipate it taking me more than a week to complete and that’s doing it at a very slow pace.
9. What is my plan of action?
The first job is to find a new home for the plastic drawers and the box of albums.
Then the clothes need to be relocated.
I’ll then need to get all the bags of baby stuff out so that I can dust and vacuum and clean the walls.
Then arrange the drawers and shelf in the wardrobe and last but not least (the fun part) putting all the babies things in there.
10. Who can I ask to help me with this?
Rob would help me, but I really don’t think I’m going to need any help.
